Solana Mainnet is Offline

On October 1, Solanastatus, a Twitter account that monitors the Solana network and website, reported that the platform is down and not executing transactions. The handler also stated that developers from various parts of the ecosystem are attempting to identify the problem and restart the network.

The Solana network is experiencing an outage and not processing transactions. Developers across the ecosystem are working on diagnosing the issue and to restart the network. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

According to Solana validator Laine’s sequence of tweets, a misconfigured node resulted in an irreversible partition in the network. A validator was running two instances of the validator, which made it difficult for validators to reach a consensus.

This network outage appears to be a frequent issue, and many users have identified it as the platform’s most difficult hurdle. Several network disruptions have occurred since the project’s inception two years ago. In April of this year, the network was down due to “stalled consensus.” A runtime flaw in June caused an unsuccessful transaction to be processed twice.

When questioned, Solana’s founder, Yakovenko, cited these challenges as a sign of widespread usage by crypto enthusiasts. Nevertheless, some people who are not pleased with the ongoing problem disagreed with him, saying that the “Ethereum killer” was not up to par.

The PoH (Proof-of-history) model is used by the Solana network, which is an enhanced PoS model. Nonetheless, they continue to use blockchain validators. Yakovenko bragged that their technology had extremely fast transaction speeds, executing over thirty million transactions daily. He went on to say that the network outage was caused by validators that were unable to execute transaction loads during busy hours.

However, these issues have proved detrimental to the network. Solana’s valuation has fallen this year with numerous swings as the days pass. Surprisingly, the Solana network has surpassed Ethereum in daily transactions. It is unknown whether this will aid in overcoming network issues.

For the more recent issue, the Solana team restarted the mainnet. Validators are getting the network back up and running while engineers focus on fixing the underlying problem.
