Cardano Signs Strategic Agreement with SERPRO
Cardano Foundation entered into a strategic agreement with Serviço Federal de Processamento de Dados (SERPRO), Brazil’s state-run IT firm and the government’s largest IT supplier.
SERPRO, one of the largest software firms, will collaborate with Swiss-based Cardano Foundation, a non-profit entity for the development of the Cardano blockchain platform. The agreement was announced on March 6, which is a record in the use of blockchain in the public sector.
Why This Partnership Matters
SERPRO is Brazil’s premier technology partner, providing digital solutions to over 90% of the federal administration. Cardano and SERPRO, together, will accelerate blockchain integration in Latin America.
The partnership focuses on:
- Innovation: Fortifying Brazil’s digital infrastructure with blockchain solutions.
- Blockchain Education: Expanding knowledge through training programs.
- Public Sector Integration: Encouraging blockchain integration in government processes.
Cardano’s blockchain, together with the experience of SERPRO, will update Brazil’s public administration to make it more transparent and efficient.
Cardano Academy to Train Over 2,000 Developers
Through the partnership, SERPRO will introduce the Cardano Academy program to its 8,000 employees, over 2,000 of whom are developers.
SERPRO Director-President Alexandre Gonçalves de Amorim stated:
“This partnership is a significant step forward in putting blockchain technology at the forefront of public sector innovation.”
He highlighted that by leveraging SERPRO’s experience and Cardano’s blockchain ecosystem, Brazil is positioning itself at the forefront of digital government transformation.
Enhancing Blockchain Uptake in Brazil
Cardano Foundation CEO, Frederik Gregaard, highlighted the importance of partnering with the government to modernize the public sector through the application of blockchain. The partnership will enhance transparency and service delivery.
This collaboration follows Cardano’s partnership in December 2023 with Petrobras, Brazil’s state oil company, also for blockchain adoption and education through the Cardano Academy.
Cardano’s native cryptocurrency ADA has attracted attention following recent updates on the U.S. strategic crypto reserve, further establishing its place in the expanding blockchain environment.
