September 1, 2022, marked a milestone in the Cardano blockchain as they released an updated version of Daedalus as an intermediate upgrade before the long-awaited final Vasil upgrade.
Daedalus is a Cardano-based and open-sourced crypto wallet that enables the storage of ADA, the native token of the blockchain, created in 2015.
The updated preview 5.0.0 and pre-prod 5.0.0 is a test version made available only for developers and stake pool operators.
Input-output the developers who announced the release of the test versions also made an updated report regarding Daedalus.
85% of the mainnet block was created by the node version making it the perfect candidate for the mainnet upgrade.
For the mainnet launch to occur, 25 out of the exchanges that hold the largest share out of the platform liquidity must be onboard with the upgrade.
Two of the top 12 exchanges in the industry, Bitrue, and MEXC, have undergone the integration, and some dApps like Aada and Lending pond have tested the much-anticipated upgrade.
Coinbase, one of the pioneer exchanges in the platform and the largest in the United States, has not made any steps towards integration or onboarding.
But on the other hand, some crypto exchanges like Kraken, Hotbit, Upbit, and Bitfinex are currently in line for the integration process.
Further, all the top dApps must upgrade to the latest version, 1.35.3, before the developers on Cardano can trigger the upgrade.
The top Apps currently undergoing pre-production testing are Minswap, Wingridiers, and Sundaeswap.
According to the CEO of Cardano, Charles Hoskinson, the Vasil upgrade is scheduled to launch in September.
It will likely coincide with the much anticipated mainnet merge on the Ethereum network.
However, the date for the Cardano Vasil launch is yet to be announced; but the Ethereum merge is scheduled to occur between September 6-20.
