ShapeShift Founder Critiques Paying to Use Twitter

Erik Vorhees praised the decision of Twitter’s current CEO, Elon Musk, on November 1st.

Let's remember that @elonmusk charging $8 for premium Twitter experience means Twitter becomes the product again, instead of you.

And if $8 is too much, you're free to remain as the product.

— Erik Voorhees (@ErikVoorhees) November 1, 2022

He took to his Twitter page in the late hours of the day to voice his opinion about the latest development of the renowned social media platform.

Twitter, under new management, has decided to collect an $8 monthly fee from users who want access to a premium experience.

Initially, the platform’s CEO set the monthly charge around $20 before slashing it down to $8 on November 2nd.

Musk announced his decision to cut the price to $8 on his Twitter page on Tuesday. Several Twitter users were unhappy with this decision, even after slashing the price by over half.

The CEO believes that this new development will enhance the growth of Twitter, and in one of his tweets, he said it would expand the platform’s revenue, allowing them to incentivize content creators.

Some members of the Twitter community were thrilled with this new development and the benefits that will accompany it.

Erik, the CEO of ShapeShifts and co-founder of Coinapult, believes that this new development will drastically reduce ads, which are targeted at users, making them the products.

However, by paying $8, Twitter, in effect, becomes the product, saving them the stress of encountering ads; he added that all who are not in support of paying could remain as the product.

Replying to his tweet, a user named Dirty Wizard believes that a course of action is unnecessary as users can quickly scroll past ads.

Nevertheless, there are some additional benefits that this new development will bring.

The platform’s CEO, in one of his tweets, added that besides the badge given to premium users, there would be a tag under the names of public figures.

This will help to make them distinct among the members of the Twitter community.

The decision was implemented not too long ago. Therefore, we can’t say for sure what impact it will have on the platform, coupled with the fact that it is under new leadership.
