Two of the most famous social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram, have integrated NFT displays and transfers on the platform. Both social networks being subsidiaries of the parent company Meta will now unlock a new experience for NFT lovers.
Meta has been working hard to develop its NFT platform for users in the last few months. Earlier this month, the company announced that the new NFT feature would be available in over 100 nations. Meta also plans to broaden the list of supported countries for the NFT experience.
The company added that the NFT integration would be easy to adopt. Users just need to connect their wallets to their social profiles. Currently, Instagram supports integration with MetaMask, Dapper, Trust Wallet, and Coinbase wallet.
Meta also collaborated with three blockchain networks to achieve its NFT goals: Ethereum, Polygon, and the Flow network. Commenting on the collaboration, the co-founder of the Polygon network said:
“Feels great knowing that @0xPolygon is powering this. Even more so because along the way, we understood that Meta is now aligned with core Web3 values, and we learned about their exciting plans for the future. This can be a historical moment for Polygon and Web3 in general.”
On the other hand, Meta has admitted that integrating NFTs into its social platforms was spurred by the company’s willingness to support creators. Meta believes that its NFT support will move talented content creators to broaden their source of income. It would also enable fans to support their favorite artists.
Neither Facebook nor Instagram would charge fees for NFT transfers. Users will also be able to tag collectors and creators on both platforms. This will expand exposure for creatives and curators. In the meantime, Meta will continue to focus on building technologies that bring the world closer.
