This new development is connected to Andre Cronje’s recent declaration that Fantom would concentrate on expanding the DApp ecosystem in 2023. Fantom had promised to reduce its token burn rate by 75% to encourage the creation of decentralized applications.
Fantom’s 2023 Roadmap
Decentralized finance architect Andre Cronje underlined the objectives and ambitions for the Fantom ecosystem in 2023 in a new Medium article released on December 26. Cronje, who previously developed protocols including Yearn. Finance and Keep3rV1 also said he took a position on the boards of Fantom Foundation Ltd and Fantom Operations Ltd, which manage the ecosystem for the named directed acrylic graph.
He claims that Fantom’s main goal for the upcoming year will be to foster an atmosphere where DApp developers can establish long-lasting enterprises while setting themselves apart from competing for layer-one solutions.
Gas monetization, which would enable revenue sharing for decentralized apps, or DApps, as a development incentive, is a crucial component of Cronje’s 2023 Fantom plan. Additionally, using gas subsidies, Fantom DApps might communicate without requiring a wallet to cover the gas costs. According to Cronje, users are not required to have or be aware of FTM during onboarding.
The distinction between intelligent contracts and externally held accounts will be eliminated as part of the “gas reform” process so that anybody may start a transaction and pay for gas. On the protocol, other tokens besides FTM would also be acceptable for usage as gas costs.
Cronje to create Fantom Virtual Machine
Cronje intends to concentrate on creating the Fantom Virtual Machine and a new storage mechanism in terms of future innovations. Cronje noted that the protocol’s financial management had been made public and that, considering the present economic environment and particularly as compared to 2018, they were in a very sustainable and healthy situation. He claims that this no longer threatens them. Thus they are not concerned.
Fantom announced plans to reduce its token burn rate by 75% to support its DApp incentive program as of December. To qualify for incentives, DApps must have 1,000,000 or more documented transactions and have been active on the Fantom Opera network for at least three months.
📢 New governance proposal: dApp Gas Monetization Program
This gas monetization program will seek to reward high-quality dApps, retain talented creators, and support #Fantom’s network infrastructure.
