Immutable joins AWS ISV Accelerate Program
Web3 gaming platform Immutable is taking another step forward in the gaming world by partnering with cloud giant Amazon Web Services (AWS). On October 10, Immutable announced that it had joined the prestigious AWS ISV Accelerate Program. This means that the gaming firm will now be listed among companies that design software solutions integrated with or running on AWS.
Perks for Developers: AWS Activate
Developers eager to leverage Immutable’s blockchain now have more reasons to do so. They can be part of the AWS Activate program, which promises an array of benefits, including:
- Comprehensive technical support
- Advanced training sessions
- A whopping $100,000 worth of AWS cloud credits.
Immutable’s Global Appeal: A Word from AWS
John Kearney, AWS’s head of startups in Australia, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership. He commended Immutable, calling it an “exemplary local Aussie startup that has achieved a global presence”. Kearney reiterated AWS’s dedication to nurturing the growth of Web3 game development on its platform.
The Tech Behind Immutable
What makes Immutable’s platform stand out? It’s designed with Amazon EventBridge and AWS Lambda. These are serverless services known for using events to seamlessly connect different application components. This integration has empowered Immutable to manage a surge in partnered games, boosting its scalability tenfold.
Addressing the Elephant in the Room: Centralization Concerns
The gaming world’s increasing centralization, especially on Ethereum, and its growing reliance on Amazon, which dominates a third of the cloud services arena, has raised eyebrows. Michael Powell, Immutable’s product marketing lead, addressed these concerns in a recent chat with Fortune. Powell stated that while many blockchain enthusiasts stress total decentralization and everything being on-chain, it’s a far cry from the actual preferences of game developers.
Innovation Continues: The zkEVM Test
Immutable is not resting on its laurels. In August, the company started public testing of its zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM), a venture in tandem with Polygon Labs. The zkEVM promises to cut down development costs for game developers while ensuring the robust security and vast network advantages synonymous with the Ethereum ecosystem.
Immutable’s Rising Valuation
The company’s innovation and growth have not gone unnoticed. In March 2022, Immutable’s valuation skyrocketed to $2.5 billion. This came on the heels of a whopping $200 million Series C funding round, where the leading contributor was Singapore’s state-owned investment giant, Temasek.
