On the 23rd of July, Fantom Universe announced the integration of Sandbox and Tornado Cash on the Orion Bridge. The bridge now supports twenty-four assets, including ETH, USDT, SHIB, and AAVE.
With SAND and TORN now joining the list of supported assets, Orion Bridge users will enjoy free swaps for these assets.
Orion has also revealed its intention to expand its support for more assets as the bridge protocol develops. While other bridges currently have more assets, the Orion Protocol is focused on security and smoothening the on-chain experience for blockchain users.
What Makes the Orion Bridge Unique?
The Orion Bridge has integrated into the Orion terminal backend, permitting actual cross-chain trading. The protocol’s bridge is the first and only bridge to be integrated into any trading platform.
Interestingly, in a bid to give blockchain users and traders the best swapping experience, the protocol does not compromise its security. Several DeFi protocols like Multiswap, Worm Hole, Meter Bridge, and Horizon Bridge lost millions in DeFi attacks this year. Most of these losses were accumulated in minting and wrapping tokens on the protocol.
With the Orion Bridge, users will not need to wrap or mint tokens. The protocol will only enable swapping from one Layer-One token to another. Notably, many alternative bridges rely on validators, reducing the decentralized nature of these protocols. The Orion Bridge will not rely on validators, and the protocol will be entirely secure.
On the Orion protocol, deposits and withdrawals are executed instantly. In comparison with other DeFi bridges, the Orion Bridge is miles ahead. For example, the Anyswap Bridge has an average settlement time of 10-30 minutes, and larger transactions take more time. Polygon withdrawals can take up to three hours, and Optimism withdrawals can take up to a week.
Unlike these protocols, deposits and withdrawals are instant with the Orion Bridge, and transaction fees are very low on the protocol. Users only pay transaction fees when they deposit and withdraw, and there are no fees for swapping.
