ICI Bucharest Unveils In-House NFT Trading Platform
Romania’s National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics (ICI Bucharest) is set to launch ICI D|Services, an institutional nonfungible token (NFT) trading platform. The platform will go live on April 26 and aims to create a link between public and private sector institutions and users. ICI D|Services will enable users to mint, manage, and trade NFTs, thereby driving Web3 adoption in the country.
Focused on Blockchain, Web3, and Nonfungible Tokens
ICI Bucharest has shifted its focus to blockchain, Web3, and nonfungible tokens after spending five years primarily focused on research and development. The institute recognized the growing popularity and potential applications of NFTs across numerous use cases, which led to the proposal of the NFT platform in late 2021.
Strategic Partnership with MultiversX
ICI Bucharest partnered with blockchain infrastructure provider MultiversX midway through 2022 to develop and implement the marketplace system’s architecture. The collaboration also includes the development of a decentralized Domain Name System (DNS) and Top-Level Domain (TLD) ecosystem.
Romanian Government Support for Innovative Projects
The ICI D|Services project has been backed by the Romanian Government through the Secretariat–General and the Romanian Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digitalization. The platform’s launch will feature five unique NFT collections developed in collaboration with prominent Romanian sportspeople, organizations, and institutions.
Enhancing Economic Potential and Fostering a Culture of Innovation
The Romanian government’s support for innovative projects like ICI D|Services is expected to generate new revenue streams and foster economic growth. This initiative will also promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the country, emphasizing the government’s commitment to embracing technology and fostering new opportunities for user interaction between citizens, businesses, and institutions.
