Recently, the secret network announced the release of the shockwave delta, the second mainnet upgrade on the platform scheduled for launch in September 2022.
The platform currently runs on the shockwave alpha, launched in May 2022. It brought about a 500-600x speed boost to some events in the network like airdrops, e.t.c.
Before the Alpha upgrade, the platform used the supernova mainnet, which they released in November 2021.
It’s worth noting that Alpha was the first mainnet upgrade on Secret, bringing a lot of advancement to the network.
However, it lagged in some areas and needed much work and upgrade.
In addition, it could not let the network achieve its aim of becoming a web 3 privacy hub.
But with the second upgrade after it, the network will be able to move one step further to achieve its aim.
The Delta upgrade will come along with numerous upgrades to ensure smooth operations.
A smart contract platform service will be integrated into the upgrade. The name of this platform is Cosmwasm, and it was built originally for the Cosmos ecosystem.
This Smart contract platform experienced a significant upgrade in May 2022 from version 0.10 to 1.0.
This integration of CosmWasm services on the secret network mainnet upgrade will enable them to create custom tokens.
It will also open an avenue for tokens on the secret network like SHD to be listed on prominent DEXes like osmosis blockchain and CEXes like Binance.
In addition, the network can make private versions of cw20 tokens.
The network initially planned shockwave omega as the next upgrade to Alpha.
But they decided to split the final upgrade into two, launching one in September of this year and releasing the other one later.
