Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, recently took to Twitter to state his stance on Elon Musk’s purchase of the social media platform.
The blockchain expert stated that the feelings of Elon’s supporters will now be encouraged, while his detractors will be uncomfortable since they are arguing on the enemy’s territory. The Canadian-born developer also stated that he feels the lack of courage of Musk’s opposers is already happening.
After expressing his views, Vitalik stated that he is not against Elon, and readers of the tweet should not assume that he is opposing Tesla’s CEO.
Contrary to Vitalik’s view, Elon Musk tweeted that he wants even his critics to remain on Twitter and use the platform to air their views. Several times, the billionaire has stated that he has the goal of promoting free speech on the social platform.
On the 25th of April, Elon also shared a tweet from a publication highlighting his views on free speech on the platform. An excerpt from the journal quoted Mr. Musk saying that “free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated.”
Despite his promotion of free speech, Elon believes that free speech should not be abused. He admitted that free speech is beneficial, but he is against speech that goes against governmental laws. Elon Musk thus implied that his advocacy for free speech will in no way counter laws or lead to disorder.
As expected, the richest man in the world still has critics active on the platform now privately owned by him. Following the acquisition of the billion-dollar company earlier this week, hundreds of Twitter users have bashed Elon Musk, criticizing his projected plans for the social platform.
