Avalanche releases Core to Take on MetaMask

On the 22nd of June 2022, Avalanche announced the release of Core, a new product in its ecosystem built for improving user experience. Core is a decentralized browser extension that was created for Avalanche community members, to help them access the full powers of web3.

Today @avalabsofficial announces the release of Core, a free, non-custodial browser extension engineered for users to seamlessly and securely access the full power of Web3 on #Avalanche

Let’s dive into the features and benefits of @CoreApp_ 🧵⬇️ https://t.co/90zuA9f6sM

Many crypto browser extensions like MetaMask available today are fragmented. This makes it more difficult for individuals to use. On the other hand, Core is a feature-filled command center for Avalanche dApps.

Core will support tokens outside the Avalanche chain, including Bitcoin and Ethereum. Interestingly, the platform has a simple user interface. Users will be able to swap hundreds of tokens seamlessly on the Core.

In addition to its support for multiple cryptocurrencies, the platform will support a fiat-crypto on-ramp and off-ramp. The on/off-ramp will be powered by MoonPay, a leading payment service in the crypto space.

Another vital component of Avalanche’s Core platform is the security of users’ funds. Its secure hard wallet protects users’ funds from external parties. Additionally, the non-custodial browser extension has a unified portfolio display, making it easy for users to switch networks. Users will also not need to add token addresses manually.

Core Will Support NFTs and GameFi Operability

Since the Avalanche chain launched in 2020, the protocol has constantly supported blockchain innovations. The Avalanche chain is one of the leading chains in blockchain gaming. Core will support gaming and metaverse activities on the Avax Chain.

The Avax chain has two main GameFi subnets – the DFK subnet and the Swimmer network. The DFK subnet hosts DeFi Kingdoms, while the Swimmer network hosts Crabada, the most popular game on the Avax chain.

Finally, Core users will be able to create and manage contacts on the platform. Frequently used wallet addresses can be saved on the address book, and multiple addresses can be managed using a single private key.

The new product has already gathered thousands of users, and so far, Core is rated well on Google Store. We can expect more users to abandon complicated wallets for Core in the coming weeks.

He is specifically training his eyes and effort on DeFi—and how the tech is changing investment, opening up opportunities for everyone—and the possibilities of NFTs.
