Anonymous, a decentralized activist group, released a new video on September 26 detailing their investigations that began on August 14 into the use of esoteric imagery in the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT collections.
According to the publicly released video, they conducted research, reviewed several documents, and spoke with prominent individuals and API club members to learn about their worries and fears about what the future of BAYC holds, as well as to get their opinion on the most recent allegations leveled against BAYC developer, Yuga Labs.
In the video, Anonymous claimed that BAYC and Yuga Labs are involved in deliberately branding their products (NFTs) with esoteric imagery that reflects racism, Nazism, and other extremist ideologies “without a shadow of doubt.”
It is at this time we would like to announce that without a shadow of doubt, Anonyomous is certain that the Bored Ape Yacht Club and Yuga Labs brand are infected with not one or two, but with dozens of examples of esoteric symbolism and dog whistles reflecting Nazism, racism, Simianization, and pedophilia support.
According to Anonymous, they spent the previous weeks looking into the claims and concluded that the allegations could not be dismissed as a conspiracy theory.
To further the discussion, they questioned why so few BAYC holders have spoken out in opposition to these claims and promised to increase public knowledge of them.
Furthermore, they requested a formal response from numerous parties and well-known individuals, including Mark Cuban, Coinbase, and Neymar Junior, about the allegations leveled against BAYC developers.
The group also demanded an explanation from Yuga Labs regarding why they haven’t clarified things or taken action to eliminate these connotations, such as esoteric symbolism and dog whistles that are associated with Nazism and others, from their brand.
“Did you think you could embed and inject these sick concepts simply because you understand esoterism and accelerationism better than the rest of the world?” asked Anonymous.
