In the latest bid to amplify user activity and foster adoption around the APE token, ApeCoin DAO and Animoca Brands have announced the launch of an innovative accelerator program.
A Step towards a Robust Ecosystem
ApeCoin DAO’s strategic move to increase its token adoption received a significant push with the endorsement and support from Animoca Brands. With the medium post detailing the APE Accelerator, it’s evident that the core objective is to boost the APE ecosystem’s vitality.
Forj’s Pivotal Role
Managed by Forj, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, the APE Accelerator is not just an ordinary program. It carries the torch to help visionary projects reach their zenith. Though deemed a “community-driven” initiative, a selective group linked with Animoca Brands will also evaluate the contenders.
How to Participate
To be in the race, one needs to purchase APE tokens and shift them to a delegate wallet service. However, the specifics on funding support for projects remain ambiguous.
History & Proposal Insights
The accelerator’s inception can be traced back to Forj’s AIP-141 proposal in October 2022. After some refinements, it reappeared as AIP-209 in January 2023, with the Ape Foundation’s oversight being notably removed.
Forj sought 126,616 APE from the ApeCoin DAO community for the program’s establishment. Breaking down the allocation, $130,000 is earmarked for website creation, $170,000 for smart contract formulation and review, with the remaining $180,000 dedicated to the half-year operational phase.
Team Composition Queries
While the team constitution encompassed a front-end developer and business-centric members, the absence of backend experts or smart contract specialists did raise some eyebrows in the community. Only time will tell how this mix will shape the APE Accelerator’s journey.
