The Cardano Blockchain has on November 3 2022 announced the launch of Daedalus mainnet 5.1.1.
IOHK, a Blockchain solution company dedicated to the development of the Cardano Blockchain made this announcement on their Twitter page.
Through this update, they’ve upped the minimum disk space required to run a Daedalus wallet from 2GB to 4GB.Â
Daedalus which is a full-node wallet on the Cardano ecosystem has come a long way after its initial launch in 2017.
The first full-node version of the wallet available to the public Daedalus 1.0.0 was launched in April 2020.Â
That version unlocked a whole new possibility in storing ADA because it could simultaneously support all Cardano wallets.Â
It was also compatible with the major operating systems on the network, featuring a customizable interface, and newsfeed.
The second major upgrade was the Shelly upgrade or Daedalus 2.0.0, released in August 2020. It marked its transition from the Byron era and included some amazing features.
For example, it was on the upgrade that users were able to access staking pools, delegation, and ranking on the Daedalus wallet for the first time.
Also, there was increased speed, security and additional tools to make delegation and staking profitable for users.
More updates continued to roll in after 2.0.0 and they continued to give users a premium experience when using the Daedalus wallet.
Daedalus 5.0.0 which came in September 2022, was a game changer because it accompanied the Vasil Hardfork, which was launched on September 22 2022.
It featured compatibility with node version 1.35.3 and Vasil, coupled with an updated term of service.
5.1.0 followed and 21 days 5.1.1 which is the most recent upgrade to the wallet on the network.Â
Cardano in collaboration with IOHK is doing all it can to enhance the quality, speed, and scalability of Daedalus.
Therefore in the coming months, we may yet see another upgrade to the wallet.
However, users are certainly happy with this upgrade and the benefits that accompany it.
