Coinbase tweeted a six-second cryptic video featuring a rotating blue dot within a black background which fades away, and what is believed to be a date, 02.23.23, is shown before also fading to black.
This cryptic tweet has prompted a wave of frenzy and speculation on social media, as there are building comments about a new token, symbolized by the rotating object scheduled to debut on February 23, 2023, which could increase user engagement and provide a new income stream for Coinbase.
Crypto Twitter is going crazy with theories as many assumptions are flying around, with many users presenting different theories.
Some believe Coinbase will be launching an integration with ChainLink or an L2 to trade securities powered by optimism. This is because Optimism also posted a tweet advertisement referring to the same blue dot as Coinbase.
There are other speculations that they could be airdropping a token that will track you and report everything to the IRS, and if the user sells it, the account would be promptly flagged for an audit. Yet some others believed that it must be a token that could be used to redeem live customer support, which would be massively bullish and send their stock soaring to really great heights.
Notably, one Redditor predicted that the tweet could be Coinbase announcing that they are going to list MOONs and that the next tweet advert would show the blue dot will fade and transform into a moon.
Also, Earlier in February, Arbitrum One announced that its network is now integrated with Coinbase. Coinbase announced that it would soon begin allowing a subset of its users to transfer and receive Ethereum, Dai, and Wrapped Bitcoin using the ETH scaling solution Arbitrum.
This integration will help the scaling solution network to take another step into the deep pockets of one of crypto’s largest centralized exchanges. Coinbase users will now have the ability to take advantage of the fast and secure speeds from Arbitrum with the seamless ETH integration it offers.
With all the speculations floating around, Coinbase has not shared further information. If the tweet is just a marketing stunt, it should be recorded as a success. It has successfully gotten the attention of the crypto space.
