French Residents Eye Cryptocurrency
Despite the past year’s notable implosions and an array of scams prevalent within the crypto sector, a recently conducted survey reveals an intriguing insight: one in five French residents are likely to invest in cryptocurrencies.
ConsenSys’s Global Crypto Reception Survey
This revelation stems from a broader study conducted by the Ethereum-based software technology company ConsenSys. The newly-released study, titled “Global Survey on Crypto and Web3,” utilizes data from YouGov to shed light on the evolving global reception towards cryptocurrencies.
The portion of the study focusing on France surveyed over 1,000 French residents aged 18 to 65 from April 26 to May 10. The outcome is startling: 20% of the respondents signaled plans to dip their toes into the cryptocurrency investment pool.
Growing Interest in Digital Currencies in France
This promising number of participants considering cryptocurrency investments suggests a growing interest and a burgeoning potential for the increased adoption of digital currencies in France. When asked about their previous and current crypto holdings, about 77% admitted to never having purchased crypto assets.
However, 12% have bought and currently own some crypto assets, and 11% have purchased cryptocurrencies in the past but do not hold any at present.
Insights from Crypto Payment Gateway Provider Triple A
Supporting this upward trend, a report from crypto payment gateway provider Triple A shows that 5% of French residents owned cryptocurrencies in 2022, amounting to over 3.4 million individuals. Additionally, 67% of the surveyed French residents reportedly have an income exceeding €300,000.
Cryptocurrency Popularity in France
The ConsenSys study further emphasizes the burgeoning interest in digital assets among French residents. The survey shows that cryptocurrency is widely recognized in France, with a staggering 90% of respondents affirming that they have heard of it.
Around 50% of respondents revealed past Bitcoin (BTC) purchases, while 36% reported buying Ethereum (ETH). Interestingly, most respondents expressed the belief that the crypto industry should be regulated, pointing towards a maturing understanding of the crypto space.
