A chilling report from Argentina brings to light the gruesome death of cryptocurrency millionaire and Instagram influencer, Fernando Pérez Algaba. Missing since July 18, Algaba was found dismembered in a suitcase, suggesting a brutal murder.
Details of the Gruesome Discovery
A group of children in Ingeniero Budge, a province of the Argentinian capital, stumbled upon a suitcase on July 23. Inside, authorities found dismembered legs and forearms. The following day, a torso was discovered in a nearby stream. And on July 25, a backpack containing a head was found.
The victim was later identified as the missing millionaire, Fernando Pérez Algaba, through analysis of fingerprints and tattoos. An autopsy indicated he had been shot three times before the dismemberment.
Suspected Motive and Connection
Preliminary investigations suggest the murder might be the work of a professional outfit, possibly debt-related. The Buenos Aires-based crypto trader reportedly owed a considerable amount in debts and bounced checks. Authorities have made an arrest, connecting one individual to the horrifying crime.
Algaba’s Public Persona and Private Troubles
Beyond his cryptocurrency trading ventures, Algaba was also an Instagram influencer with over 917,000 followers. His lifestyle, portrayed through images of luxury cars and his beloved dog, belied a looming financial crisis.
Algaba reportedly had significant debts, including a 900,000 Argentine pesos ($3,300) debt in bounced checks, 1.2 million Argentine pesos ($4,400) owed to banks, and a $70,000 debt again related to a bounced check.
A Pattern of Tragic Deaths in the Crypto Community
Algaba’s death echoes a disturbing trend. Between October and December 2022, the crypto community faced a spate of sudden and mysterious deaths, including MakerDAO co-founder Nikolai Mushegian, crypto broker Javier Biosca, Amber Group co-founder Tiantian Kullander, Russian crypto billionaire Vyacheslav Taran, and major Bithumb shareholder Park Mo. Algaba’s demise brings the spotlight back to this alarming pattern.
