The world’s first fully decentralized world, Decentraland, has partnered with Degree, professional athletes, and others to organize the Metaverse’s first marathon event.
Decentraland is a 3D browser-based virtual world platform built on the Ethereum blockchain. It’s a platform that encourages a global network of people to operate in a shared virtual world. Users can buy and sell virtual plots of land (digital real estate) on Decentraland and interact and play games within the virtual realm on Decentraland. The Decentraland Foundation initially released it on February 20, 2020 (2 years ago).
Degree Deodorant announced on its official Twitter account on April 25, 2022, that they will be hosting the first Metaverse marathon event in collaboration with Decentraland, Fat Joe, and Athlete Blake Leeper.
Degree is well-known for promoting a world in which everyone has the confidence to push themselves beyond their limits. On April 16, 2022, Decentraland also announced the event, stating that it is part of the movement for a more inclusive representation in Decentraland.
What is the objective of the Degree Metathon?
Degree’s desire for free movement, even within the Metaverse is the focus of the Degree Metathon event. Degree created an adaptive device to allow wheelchairs to move within the virtual world to foster this. According to Decentraland, “Everyone should be free to move how they want in the virtual as well as the physical world. That’s why the Degree Metathon features the first ever adaptive wearables in Decentraland and a wheelchair friendly course, the start of a journey in designing accessible and inclusive virtual movement spaces for the disability community.”
Many unique and inspiring stories will be told during the Metathon event to inspire the participants. Protagonists who have surmounted personal obstacles in the real world will be on the ground to encourage the event’s participants.
Who can participate in the Degree Metathon?
Everyone is welcome to take part in the Degree Metathon. Participants in the event will get to run alongside other individuals in the virtual world, including celebrities such as Fat Joe, Paralympic medallist Blake Leeper, and professional player Hector Herrera.
