Ethereum developers have tentatively scheduled the Glamsterdam upgrade for activation on the Sepolia testnet at 13:53 UTC on October 6, according to a report citing notes from the ACDC #186 meeting. The date remains conditional because the upgrade has not yet activated successfully on a stable development network.
The proposed testnet step concerns Ethereum’s protocol roadmap, while other recent coverage has tracked activity around the same ecosystem, including BitMine’s reported ETH holdings. For Glamsterdam itself, the immediate issue is technical readiness: Devnet-9 is failing to finalize, and developers are preparing Devnet-10.
That testing process follows two problems found earlier: a major consensus-layer bug and an execution-layer issue connected to EIP-8037. Separate Ethereum coverage has also highlighted risks at the application level, such as a phishing attack involving an expired Tornado Cash domain, but those incidents are distinct from the protocol testing now determining Glamsterdam’s schedule.
Devnet-10 is the next readiness checkpoint
Developers are moving toward Devnet-10 after the finalization failure on Devnet-9 and the previously identified consensus- and execution-layer issues. The source does not report that those problems have already been cleared. Instead, it presents Devnet-10 as the next development environment that must demonstrate stability before the tentative Sepolia date can be treated with greater confidence.
The October 6 target is therefore not described as fixed. If Devnet-10 remains unstable or exposes another major issue, developers could postpone Sepolia activation. That condition makes the test result central to the timeline: the calendar target exists, but successful testing still comes first.
The reported obstacles also cover more than one part of the upgrade process. One earlier bug affected the consensus layer, another issue involved the execution layer and EIP-8037, and the current Devnet-9 problem is a failure to finalize. The source does not assign a new timetable to resolving each item. Its scheduling test is broader: Devnet-10 must avoid continued instability and further major issues if the Sepolia target is to remain in place.
Hoodi and mainnet dates remain unset
No dates have been established for either the Hoodi testnet or Ethereum mainnet. Developers are still targeting a possible mainnet launch in December, but the report frames December as a target rather than a confirmed activation date. It also provides no specific day or time for that possible mainnet deployment.
The sequence currently has one tentative milestone and two open ones. Sepolia is provisionally set for October 6 at 13:53 UTC, subject to Devnet-10 stability. Hoodi has no announced date, and mainnet has only a possible December window. Until the development-network issues are resolved, the available schedule remains conditional at every stage beyond the tentative Sepolia target.
