In 2016, Donald Trump was accused of collaborating with the Russians in an attempt to rig the election. Utilizing tech experts, they presented documents that were supposed to show communications between Donald Trump and Alpha bank.
After some investigation, it seems the “communication” was a spam marketing email sent to Alpha bank by contractors working for Donal Trump’s hotel. It was also found out that the evidence was orchestrated by an FBI operative in Hilary Clinton’s camp called James Baker.
During an investigation into Twitter’s inner workings, termed as Twitter files, one of the two journalists involved in Twitter’s examination, Matt Taibbi, explained the reason For their delay and the challenges they faced that mitigated the publication of follow-up reports.
One of the reasons for the delay was the general counsel for Twitter, James Baker, who was vetting the files before releasing the files to them. This delay in the arrangement was done without the knowledge of Elon Musk and the new management of Twitter.
Following the shock of the information, Elon Musk came out to announce that James Baker was fired from Twitter. He maintained the same story that he was not aware of the situation.
This elicited a couple of reactions and speculations from users. Many expressed shock that an agent fired from the FBI for information tampering was working as the top lawyer for Twitter.
Others believed that Elon Musk was fully aware of the situation, and though it was a source of embarrassment to the company, he let it play his course. While the final group believes James was simply doing his job as the general counsel for Twitter.
He was trying to cover the failings of Twitter, and possibly planted to clean up FBI involvement in Twitter.
Regardless of the side, all universally believe that James Baker was vetting and withholding certain information from going public. Which brought to question the authenticity of Twitter.
Twitter has been entering the crypto space, and it’s now difficult to believe the United States government was not involved in Twitter’s activities. Seeing as Elon Musk is heavily involved in cryptocurrency, how much are both his actions and that of Twitter influenced by the US government?
