Gemini continues to be the proud principal partner of the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race for the third year in a row. The highly-anticipated Gemini Boat Race between the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge will be held on March 26, 2023, on the River Thames in London. If you can’t make it to the event, you can watch the race here.
The sport of rowing holds a special place in the hearts of Gemini’s founders, Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, who competed in the Oxford Blue Boat in 2010 after their participation in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The qualities of leadership, determination, and persistence that are nurtured through rowing have been instrumental in shaping Gemini’s mission since its inception in 2014.
Gemini is the first fintech company to serve as the principal partner of the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race, following in the footsteps of other esteemed institutions. The partnership, which began in 2021, has enabled the event to have a more significant impact by removing financial barriers that often prevent young people from participating in the sport of rowing and increasing access to rowing facilities and education.
Over the past three years, Gemini has helped over 900 young people learn how to row through the Boat Race Fund. The projects supported by Gemini and the Boat Race Fund include London Youth Rowing in Leeds, Fulham Reach Boat Club, Behind Every Kick and Brixton Wings in London, Ely College in Cambridgeshire, Firhill Youth Project and Community Sports Hub in Glasgow, and Warrington Youth Rowing in Cheshire. Gemini hopes that the young athletes who participate in these programs will take the lessons they learn from rowing into other areas of their lives.
Gemini is honored to be a part of preserving such a beloved sporting event and wishes the teams the best of luck in this weekend’s competition. Gemini is thrilled to continue supporting the exceptional athletes who compete in the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race.
