The Arweave ecosystem has been focused on breaking barriers of entry, and their latest adoption of EVM-based wallets has opened access to more than 30 million users who use Metamask.
Users can now sign into the Arweave ecosystem using EVM wallets, and they can pay with tokens from Solana, Polygon, and many more. The EVM signature verification system allows verification during contract state evaluation as a way to deter malicious manipulation.
A special plug-in feature verifies all contract interactions, and in the near future plans are made to support non-EVM wallets as well.
What then is Arweave?
Arweave is a data storage protocol built to combat tyrannical and unreliable data storage infrastructure. Unlike other blockchain projects, Arweave is built to be scalable and capable of up to 5,000 transactions per second (TPS).
Arweave is not built on already existing infrastructures, it’s built on the blockweave protocol that reduces the cost of transactions, as the data stored in it increases. This is monumental because as a race humanity has been creating an increasing amount of data, and that has affected the evolution of storage gadgets. From the floppy disk to cloud storage. If it was built like other projects the cost associated with it would keep increasing making it unviable in the long term.
The blockchain uses a proof of access consensus protocol, that allows miners to compete by providing replications of data. Added to that, it’s built with a wildfire protocol, utilizing the way an interesting piece of information can spread across town like a wildfire. The wildfire protocol can be summarised as “if you share with me I would share with you”.
Whenever there is a need for decentralized storage to store large amounts of data Arweave is currently the go-to project. This allows users to store, share, collaborate, and protect a large amount of data. And with the adoption of EVM-based wallets, these data storage features are now available to even more people.
