Crypto payment firm RedotPay has pledged to mount a vigorous legal defense against a $470 million lawsuit filed by Binance, which alleges the Hong Kong-based company diverted nearly half a million exchange users. According to a CoinDesk report, Binance affiliates filed the suit in Hong Kong, claiming RedotPay improperly used Binance Pay funds to top up its own prepaid cards and caused about $473 million in losses.

Binance’s $470 Million Claim Against RedotPay

The lawsuit focuses on RedotPay’s rapid growth as a stablecoin payment card issuer, with Binance alleging that the firm diverted 470,000 customers in a “massive breach of trust.” Binance says the actions contravened contractual agreements between the companies, and seeks damages for lost revenue and reputational harm. This legal action adds to Binance’s wider regulatory challenges, as highlighted in a detailed report titled Binance Makes Fighting Crypto Crime More Difficult, NYT Report Says.

RedotPay’s Defense and the Road Ahead

RedotPay, which bills itself as the world’s largest stablecoin payment card issuer and is planning a U.S. IPO of more than $1 billion, rejected the allegations as unfounded. “RedotPay is aware of legal proceedings initiated by Binance and will vigorously defend all claims,” the firm said in an emailed statement to CoinDesk. The dispute highlights how crypto exchanges are confronting legal and compliance dilemmas worldwide, a theme also reflected in Coinbase Eyes Canada as ‘Everything Exchange’ but Demands Clearer Rules.

Should the Hong Kong court proceed with the case, the outcome could set a precedent for customer-poaching disputes in the digital asset industry. RedotPay has positioned itself to challenge Binance’s narrative, while the broader market watches for potential ripple effects on stablecoin payment firms and exchange partnerships. For now, RedotPay remains operational and continues to expand its stablecoin card services, insisting the allegations will not derail its growth or IPO ambitions.
