The SundaeSwap Labs team released a demo of the token swapping operation being developed on Hydra, Cardano’s Layer 2 scaling solution, on Friday, October 4, and said it is an important milestone in SundaeSwap’s and Cardano’s scaling journey.
Today our team is excited to demo something we've been hard at work on for months:
SundaeSwap on Hydra! While a ways out, this is an important milestone in not just our scaling journey, but Cardano's as well.
We'll provide detail later, but in the meantime check out our video⬇️ pic.twitter.com/eRyUPT88QL

SundaeSwap is a native, scalable decentralized exchange (DEX) and automated liquidity provision protocol.
The development comes more than a week after Cardano CEO Charles Hoskinson posted a Twitter thread in response to a rumor and troll that several decentralized apps (dApps) had started integrating Hydra. The troll specifically criticized Input Output Global (IOG) for its lack of transparency on the Hydra launch.
According to the published tweet, the SundaeSwap Labs team noted that they have been working hard over the past few months to develop the L2 scaling solution for their exchange. The released demo showed that the Hydra powdered DEX under development offers a significant increase in average orders per second compared to the native Cardano.
Commenting on the successful demo released by the exchange, Charles Hoskinson expressed his delight at the development and hailed Hydra, and asserted that “Hydra is coming to Cardano one DApp at a time.”
Hail Hydra! So glad to see this demo. Hydra is coming to cardano one DApp at a time https://t.co/k9i1wG3OKO

The released demo has generated a lot of excitement within the Cardano community, which is not surprising since it signals that the launch of the Cardano scaling solution Hydra is just around the corner. Sebastian Nagel, the lead Hydra developer, also congratulated and praised the initiative of the SundaeSwap teams and expressed his optimism about improving the protocol with their help.
Congratulations on the successful demo! SundaeSwap has been putting in quite some work and we are happy to have you as one of our early adopters. Looking forward to improve the protocol together! 🐲 https://t.co/Ux8ZqY9zko

Cardano Layer 2 system, Hydra, is expected to significantly improve the scalability of the blockchain by reducing latency and increasing the throughput – transactions per second. It will enhance the performance of Cardano to support its growth and adoption through increased capacity. IOG dubbed it as the “ultimate layer-2 scalability solution.”
However, no official date has been announced for Hydra’s launch, which is not surprising given that IOG tend to not release a product until they are satisfied with a series of test results.
