CryptoQuant Analyst: Bitcoin Rally Fueled by Binance Short Squeeze, Pullback Risk Remains

CryptoQuant analyst BorisD said Bitcoin’s latest rally was driven primarily by concentrated short positioning on Binance, according to a market update covered by Wu Blockchain. Forced covering can lift price quickly, but the analyst cautioned that the same positioning may still expose the market to a sharp pullback if spot demand does not absorb the unwind.

How a Binance short squeeze compressed the market

Liquidation clusters had already shown how leveraged positions can set up volatile moves. BTC-Pulse previously covered Bitcoin’s $57,000 Liquidation Zone Puts Leveraged Bulls at Risk as Liquidity Thins. BorisD’s read adds the opposite side of that trade: when Binance shorts were forced to cover, the resulting buy pressure amplified Bitcoin’s upside without requiring fresh spot conviction.

The concentration of that forced buying matters. A short squeeze can create a sharp momentum burst, but it does not necessarily signal broad accumulation. Pullback risk and what to watch

If the short-covering impulse fades before spot buyers step in, Bitcoin could retrace toward levels where late longs entered. The risk is not a fundamental rejection of Bitcoin, but a positioning hangover. That fits with the broader warning in Bitcoin Holders Risk Losing Real BTC if They Sell Coins from BIP-110 Fork, Developer Warns, which shows that operational and coordination risks remain even as price recovers.

The next sessions are likely to test whether exchange order books show renewed spot demand or merely a temporary squeeze. Monitoring funding rates, open interest, and liquidation zones will be more useful than viewing the rally as a pure long-term breakout signal.
